Position Summary:
Blackfeet Community College (BCC) is located in Browning, Montana, on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation and is adjacent to Glacier National Park. BCC was chartered by the Blackfeet Tribe in 1974 and the campus property encompasses 725 acres with one main campus with 17 centralized buildings. In 1994, BCC was one of the Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) designated as a land-grant institution through the Equity in Educational Land Grant Status Act. It is the vision of Blackfeet Community College to strengthen and enrich our community through quality education, integrating the Nii-tsi-ta-pi world of knowledge. It is our mission to provide the Blackfeet Nation and our “universal community” access to quality educational programs that prepare students for achievement in higher education, meaningful employment, basic skills instruction, and community education, while integrating the Blackfeet culture and language. BCC is a fully accredited two-year institution through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and is a member of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC). Blackfeet Community College has developed objectives and purposes based on the goals of the Blackfeet Tribe, as set forth in the Blackfeet Community College Tribal Charter.
In this position, you will provide college-positive mentorship to the students of Blackfeet Community College, and well as the students at regional high schools. Additionally, you will support students by finding academic resources, personal resources, and financial resources.
Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) serves as the intermediary for this project. MTCC is a CEO-led coalition of colleges and universities that support civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across the state. Every year we place cohorts of full-time, part-time, and summer AmeriCorps members with schools, colleges, nonprofits, and government agencies in Montana. The AmeriCorps projects we facilitate increase educational equity, break down barriers between higher education and community organizations, and address the root causes of poverty in communities across the state.
*The Final Application Deadline is the last date on which MTCC will be able to accept applications for this position. MTCC staff meet to determine placements for candidates each week on Wednesday, meaning that year-long positions can be filled at any time. It is recommended that you submit your application no later than Tuesday of the current week if you would like to have the best chance of being considered for a service site placement on the following Wednesday.
