Community Description:

As Montana’s largest city, Billings is home to Montana State University Billings and Rocky Mountain College, and offers great local dining and brewing options, in addition to its fantastic scenery. The city offers activities to fuel outdoor exploration, including the Rimrocks and Pictograph Cave State Park. There’s also plenty to see around town such as the Moss Mansion, designed by the famous architect Henry Janeway Hardenbergh, and the Yellowstone Art Museum. For those willing to make a small trip, the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument is only a 60 minute drive.

Position Summary:   The Montana 10 program at Montana State University Billings (MSUB) is  part of a pilot project being conducted by the Montana University System to study the role that academic and financial supports play in students’ college experience and outcomes. In this position you will support the program at MSUB in recruiting and supporting a team of college AmeriCorps members to provide near-peer mentorship to low-income and first-generation college students. Community Description:

Sitting in the rolling foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the town of Browning is the largest community in the Blackfeet Nation. The home of Blackfeet Community College, each summer, Browning hosts North American Indian Days—one of the largest gatherings of U.S. and Canadian tribes. The celebration includes dancing, traditional games, a pow wow, Indian relay and rodeo. The town is also located a short drive from Glacier National Park.

Community Description:

Filled with rich history and rusty mining machinery, Butte is a historical destination of Montana. The city is home to the Montana Technological University, and displays its history through attractions like the World Museum of Mining and the Copper King Mansion. Additionally, Butte is nearly encompassed by the public land of National Forests, including trails covering 3790 miles and other nearby areas of interest, such as the Lewis and Clark Caverns. Position Summary: The Institute for Educational Opportunities at the Montana Technological University (Montana Tech) is a consortium of programs developed to provide K-12 students with the support they need to achieve success in higher education. Although based in Butte, this position may include travel to schools in regional communities, including  Anaconda, Ennis, Whitehall, and Boulder. In this position you will serve on part of a team of five full-time AmeriCorps members supported by eight college student AmeriCorps members. Dillon is located in the south-western region of Montana in a sweeping valley into which the Ruby, Big Hole and Beaverhead rivers drain, and is home to University of Montana Western.
